Facebook data suggests people from higher social class have fewer international friends

New study using Facebook network data, including a dataset of over 57 billion friendships, shows correlation between higher social class and fewer international friendships. Researchers say results support ideas of ‘restricting social class’ among wealthy, but show that lower social classes are taking advantage of increased social capital beyond national borders.

A new study conducted in collaboration with Facebook using anonymised data from the social networking site shows a correlation between people’s social and financial status, and the levels of internationalism in their friendship networks – with those from higher social classes around the world having fewer friends outside of their own country. Facebook pages – work less, pay more

You absolutely MUST HAVE a Facebook page. If you have a website, a blog or any business for that matter, you simply cannot do without social marketing and, in particular, a Facebook page.

In fact, back in April 2013 Facebook published a post titled “The Importance of being ‘Liked’ On Facebook, stating –

When someone clicks your page and likes it, that also flows out to their feed to all their friends. So 1,000 people like your page, and if each of them has a 100 friends then multiply that and you get 100,000 people that could see your page.

Let’s be honest, Facebook search sucks. Always has. But now that they’ve introduced their new search engine, Graph Search, they promise you will find what you’re looking for. Time will tell.

Facebook stock price today

Facebook - The Social Network

The Facebook stock price today is $26. The initial public offering priced the stock priced at $38 but on the morning of the opening on May 18 the price went up to $42, closing back at $38 by end of day’s trading. Since the IPO, the stock has dropped as low as $25, more than 30% from the initial offering.

Since Facebook has gone public it has been a target for short sellers who have dropped the value by $27 billion, a quarter sliced off its initial $104 billion value. Ouch!  Read more…

You get the product, then the video about the product, then the book, the cap, the t-shirt, the mug, the chewing gum and then the phone. The latter gadget is the obvious addition for any brand that aspires to be noticed everywhere all the time.

So it’s only obvious that a brand as big as Facebook would have a phone. It’s be rumored for some time that there will be a Facebook phone and now it seems closer than ever, under the project code name “Buffy.” Read more…
