Oppo N1 – a smartphone with tricks
The camera on the Oppo N1 smartphone boots up in 0.6 seconds. That’s no typo. OPPO claims it is “easily the fastest starting camera on the market.” That’s cool, because some phone cameras are so slow that by the time you have the camera ready the important moment has gone, either lost forever or captured by your competitor’s faster phone.
That’s not the only impressive feature of the Oppo 1. It has a touch pad on the rear of the camera – called an “O-Touch” – on which you can scroll your screen, has an O-Click remote control device, and is the world’s first smartphone with a rotating camera.

OPPO actually makes more of the fact that the N1’s camera is “the world’s first smartphone with a rotating camera” than the 13 megapixel 1/3.06-inch CMOS, f/2.0, dual-mode flash camera driven by a Fujitsu IPS imaging chip especially designed for the OPPO N1. In fact, the N1 is the first Android smartphone to use 6 physical lenses.
OPPO N1 body and mind
The OPPO N1 is a big phone, measuring 170.7 x 82.6 x 9 mm (6.7 x 3.25 x 0.35 in) and weighing 213g (7.51 ounces). Featuring a 5.9-inch full HD IPS screen, makes this a phablet (smartphones with 5 to 6.9 inches (130 to 180 mm).
PhoneArena points out that the OPPO N1 is “taller than phablets like the HTC One max, Lumia 1520 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3, but narrower than Samsung’s handset,” and in size “only gives way to the Xperia Z Ultra phablet.”
In fact, the CNET review is of the opiniion that “Some will find its dimensions awkwardly large.” They do, however, also think that it “is easily today’s most innovative smartphone that most people haven’t heard of.”
The OPPO N1 is the first Google-certified CyanogenMod smartphone but is also available with Color OS. The N1 runs on a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Quad Core CPU, 2GB RAM and Adreno 320 GPU.
