HTC One M8 – Selfie gorgeousness

It’s beautiful and stunning and smart and unlike anything else in the world. And that’s just the selfie you took. Now you can even improve on it – with the new HTC One M8. It has two image processing chips that will make your selfie more clear and crisp than any selfie you’ve ever taken.

HTC calls it a “Duo Camera” system. The rear UltraPixel 4MP camera is accompanied by a second, 2MP camera just above it for extra depth of field. More light per pixel means more brightness and more colour capturing. You’ll look gorgeous!

Well, that will depend on when you take the selfie. If it’s a #nomakeupselfie, be aware that the HTC One M8 will show every uncovered spot and line of an early morning mug. In which case you’ll do something worthy while still being in possession of one of the world’s best-looking Android smartphones.

The front camera is not bad either: 5MP, BSI sensor, wide angle lens, with HDR capability and, like the primary rear camera, with 1080p Full HD video recording capability.

As you would imagine, there’s more to the selfie throne than just a dual-camera – after all, Lytro has had one for a while. There’s also new software with which you can choose the point of focus after you’ve taken a photo and a number of interesting editing features, as the official HTC One M8 page explains.

The HTC One M8 is ever-so-slightly larger than the excellent HTC One to allow space for the bigger 5″ screen – the HTC One has a 4.7″ screen – and a bigger battery that lasts longer than the One even though the M8 features an upgraded GPU and the faster 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 Krait processor.
