World’s fastest graphics card 2012

Driven by two of nVidia’s most powerful graphic GPUs, the dual GK104 Kepler architecture chips, the GeForce GTX690 is the world’s fastest graphics card.

Hang on! Didn’t AMD claim their Radeon HD 6990 to be the fastest just the other day? Yes, they did. And it was. But that was the other day and in the computer world a week is as long as a month at the office: an eternity.

The GeForce GTX690 features 3072 of nVidia’s CUDA cores. CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) is the nVidia technology that speeds up parallel processing for video encoding and non-graphic applications faster than your computer’s CPU. 3072 of those cores are bound to make you smile.

The GTX690 comes with 4GB GDDR5 memory, thus 2GB for each GPU. The card’s base clock is 915MHz, the boost clock 1019MHz, and the memory clock is a lightning 6GHz.

Built on the new 28 nanometer process technology, the GeForce GTX690 GPUs transistors are more efficient and is said to make it easier to run a quad-SLI setup. nVidia claims the new 28nm build delivers up to 45% higher clock frequencies than the previous 32nm and 40nm builds.

Using some really “exclusive” (expensive) material, the powerful GTX690 also is one of the quietest graphics cards available today. The nVidia geeks explain it well in the video:
