The Unstoppable Susan Boyle and memorable Paul Potts
Susan Boyle, the 47-year-old, fuzzy-haired, singleton, devout Catholic from Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland did for her audition for Britain’s Got Talent and went home, not expecting much. “There was no big celebration. I just went home to bed. I do have the occasional glass of wine, but most of the time I’m teetotal. I prefer a half pint of lemonade.”
After a quite few months the audition was televised, on April, 11 2009, on ITV and posted on YouTube here. Susan Boyle’s rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables went viral; within two weeks the video was viewed more than 100 million times on the various video channels. The girl who, in her own words, “They called me Susan Simple” had become the angel of the internet, a global sensation. Susan Boyle was simply unstoppable.
Susan’s achievement reminds of Paul Potts who also surprised the world with his singing on the same show two years earlier; the cellphone salesman with the golden voice. Paul also became one of the most viewed people on the video tubes. Many viewers comment that they watch the videos (both Paul’s and Susan’s) every day for pure inspiration.
