Where the magic happens
“Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door.” – Kyle Chandler
“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” – Jack London
“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford
“Things do not happen. Things are made to happen.” – J.F.K.
Hello 2012
Trust you had a great holiday season and a memorable new year’s eve. And, mostly, that you will have a fantastic 2012.
What does 2012 hold in store? Only the prophets know. Or, to quote Peter Drucker, “”The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Whichever, always be prepared. As W.C. Fields put it:
“Always carry a flagon of whiskey in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake.”
Looking back at 2011
Looking back over the past few decades some years will stand out for the technological advances, others for perhaps war or politics or mishaps. 2011 was the year of people: the Arab Spring, the Occupy movement, the London riots, and remembering great personalities.
While the woes of the economic crash continues, with those bankers who caused it still waddling in what they gained from others’ pain, in 2011 citizens started fighting back, tackling the scoundrels in the streets, the media and the courts. Read more…

Best Rugby World Cup Team
World Cup Rugby fever is at a pitch. The road to the finals on 23 October in Auckland, New Zealand is half littered with broken dreams and half filled with joy. If the fixtures at first seemed to stuffed with obvious results the bookies are in for a bonus this year.
There have been some shock surprises, non more when Australia got beaten by Ireland and France got beaten by Tonga – neither without being knocked out of the tournament – in the pool stages. The best World Cup Rugby team, however, did get knocked out. Yes, Wales was the team with the most surprises, fighting spirit and some stylish play. Read more…

Smarter after a few beers
Cliff to Norm: “Well you see, Norm, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Read more…
What I want for Christmas
Hugo Boss Original would do. And some colorful hippie socks. Or Greensound glass speakers. Or the new Ducatti 848 Evo. The sexy Porsche Cayman R. Lunch with the witty Sharon Stone. Any of these would make a great Christmas gift, thank you.
Instead, how about one perfect day of peace. Not a single shot fired. No rockets, no bombs, not even an insult. One single day on which everyone everywhere would grant their neighbors what they wish for themselves.
But what am I talking about?! It’s not even my birthday. So how about allowing Jesus to have his wish on his birthday?
Remember the reason for the season and have a very happy Christmas.
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Make more of every minute of your day. It’s easy. Smile more, drink more water, think more positively, alter your posture to reflect a good mood, and stop. Just stop for a minute. Take a breather. Think of something nice, something that makes you smile. Then think of something you can do that will make someone else (anyone) smile. Something that will make a difference. What have you done today to make you feel proud? Read more…
Football World Cup surprises
Raise your glass. Raise another. And another. Blow your vuvuzela. Make a noise. Fall over. Tomorrow morning will bring another new surprise. That is the Football World Cup, otherwise known as the soccer world cup.
Whatever you call soccer – see why soccer is called football – the Football World Cup is a celebration to behold. There are few occasions in the world where cultures are more feverishly united in blind emotion. War comes to mind, when principles are thrown aside. Same with banking.
But we’re talking sports here. When millions of people have their eyes glued on a ball that is the same size as the head of any of their kids… but gets more attention. Read more…
